- INFORMATION ABOUT THE OPEN LECTURE AND THE SEMINAR
- Open lecture
Mark Hayward has worked as a family therapist with young people and their family networks for more than 25 years. In this open lecture-event Mark will show video from sessions over 4 years with a teenage girl and her mother. In the video abuse and trauma feature as well as the difficulties of separated families. Basic practices and ideas of Narrative Therapy will be discussed.
(A small part of the Friday Event will be spent in the presentation of the International Therapy Training Program that is organized by the Greek Institute and Dulwich Centre. The program leads to the Certificate of Narrative Therapy, by which the graduates are recognized as narrative therapists by Dulwich Centre, the centre that has created Narrative Therapy and it is part of the Master in Narrative Therapy of the University of Melbourne.)
- Seminar
The workshop focuses on narrative work with relationships: parent/child relationships, couple relationships and family relationships.
On Saturday we will look at working with and thinking about children and their families. How do we help the family conceptualize the problem that bothers them? How do we help its members present to the family what is important to them? How do we help the family find sparkling moments that will support them in creating new ways of coping with problems? How do we support the family members go towards their preferred directions in life?
On Sunday we will look at problems in couple relationships and the particular ways that narrative therapy conceptualizes these issues and addresses them. This includes among other things how popular ideas about couples can contribute to problems and how we can help in deconstructing them.
In both days there will be presentations, exercises and video material to reflect on.
